We would like to thank the Rotary Club of West Lakeland for making Age UK West Cumbria their charity of the year for 2019/20.

The Rotary Club of West Lakeland is part of an international network dedicated to providing humanitarian service and advancing goodwill and peace around the world.

Throughout 2019/20, members of the club will plan and run a variety of fundraising events to raise money for our charity.

Rob Broad, President of the Rotary Club of West Lakeland has commented:

"The Rotary Club of West Lakeland is very pleased to be supporting Age UK West Cumbria. This local charity provides so much invaluable help for our older community.

We are planning several local events over the coming months, for example our third annual Rotating Wheels Vintage Rally in Gosforth on the third Sunday in July, a sponsored walk in May and other activities to help raise funds.

Most importantly, we would also like to take this opportunity to thank members of the public for their ongoing support of the Rotary Club, which makes these events so worthwhile and enjoyable to do."

The Rotary Club of West Lakeland chose to support Age UK West Cumbria after connecting with Jan Fotheringham, our Community Connections Worker for Gosforth and Seascale. Our Community Connections project provides support for socially isolated older people across West Cumbria, helping people build their confidence, and connect with social activities in their local area.

Our Chief Executive Officer, David Hole has said:

“We are extremely grateful to the Rotary Club of West Lakeland for making us their charity of the year. Fundraising activity like this helps support our vital services for older people across West Cumbria.”

Recently the Rotary Club of West Lakeland have also supported the Wasdale Mountian Rescue and the Royal National Lifeboat Institute with their fundraising activity.
