We're currently recruiting dedicated and passionate individuals to join our Board of Trustees.

As part of this process, we wanted to introduce you to our current Board and share a little more information about their background, interests and skills.

First up is Anne Prowse (first left on the photograph), the current Chair of Trustees at Age UK West Cumbria. Anne became a trustee ten years ago after her retirement, before becoming our Chair five years ago.

“When I retired ten years ago, I wanted to do something that would make a real difference. I chose to become a trustee at Age UK West Cumbria due to the vital support they offered my parents in the final years of their life.

Unfortunately, my Mam suffered from a heart condition and Parkinson’s disease, and my Dad developed Dementia. Not only did Age UK West Cumbria help them, but they also supported me at a time I needed it most. For me, becoming a trustee was my way of saying ‘thank you’.

Prior to my retirement, I worked in the commercial sector for over thirty-five years in various managerial roles. During this time I developed a range of knowledge, skills and contacts that I was able to bring to my trusteeship.

A well as being a trustee, I also really enjoy walking, gardening, cooking, travelling and following Man Utd with my family.

For anyone thinking about being a trustee, I would say ‘go for it’. Not only are you helping a great cause, but you also meet lots of interesting people and pick up some new skills along the way”
