Age UK Wigan Borough has volunteers undertaking a wide range of actvities across the community.
Volunteering for us offers a variety of opportunities and training is provided to enable our volunteers to carry out their role. Volunteers will gain valuable experience and skills through our volunteering programme.
The amount of time given by a volunteer is down to the individual - any time given is fully appreciated!
Volunteering can be fun and is a great way to develop and create memories whilst assisting us to extend our services, allowing more people to access them. We have many opportunities across the organisation. However once you begin volunteering with us, there are opportunities to move around the different areas to gain wider experience.
If you would like to join our team, please contact us on the details below.
If you would like more information on our opportunities you can visit http://ivo.org/ageukwiganborough or https://do-it.org/organisations/age-uk-wigan-borough and search Age UK Wigan. Below is a list of some of the services as well as our contact details so if you're interested in volunteering with us you can get in touch.
Current Volunteering Opportunities
ConnectUp is our new and exciting approach to tackling isolation and loneliness. With a network of ConnectUp groups across the borough, we’re looking for volunteers to help run the groups and make people welcome. As a ConnectUp volunteer, you’ll help people find out what’s available in their area and try to find the best option for each individual. We’re also looking for volunteers to work as buddies, helping people access new activities and get over that initial ‘newness’ and hesitation about going to a strange place. We expect a minimum of a couple of hours per week at locations across the borough.
Bright Days Programme
We need several volunteers throughout the week to assist with sessions and activities across the community, which usually last between two to three hours. For more information about the Bright Days Programme and activities, click here
