Community Meals service launches in Chippenham

Published on 06 April 2020 11:01 AM

We're delighted to beworking in partnership with Chippenham Borough Lands Charity to launch this essential new service for older people living in the Chippenham area.  Funded by Chippenham Borough Lands Charity, the service is an extension of Age UK Wiltshire’s already successful Swindon-based operation and can provide a daily hot meal to older people who may be isolated or living alone.

With many older people having to self-isolate as a result of the Coronavirus epidemic, we need to be mindful of their support needs now more than ever.  As well as providing a healthy balanced meal, essential to prevent malnutrition setting in, the Community Hot Meals service can also offer a reassuring daily welfare check for older people in these anxious times and give them access to the other support services of Age UK Wiltshire if needed.

Julian Kirby, Chief Executive Officer of Age UK Wiltshire said: “We are delighted this partnership has been launched with the support of Chippenham Borough Lands Charity, particularly at such a critical time in our society.  We are very keen to start delivering this excellent service to the older people of Chippenham.”

Phil Tansley, Chief Executive Officer of Chippenham Borough Lands Charity said “We are happy to be supporting AGE UK Wiltshire to launch this new service for Chippenham, helping elderly people in our community during this difficult time.”
