About this role

Age UK Wiltshire is seeking to recruit 2 enthusiastic, proactive and motivated people to join our new Wellbeing project due to launch in January 2018.

The Wellbeing Programme will be offered to older people who have been identified as being lonely, isolated, lacking in confidence or requiring support to access community activities, including every older person who requests a ‘befriending’ type service.

The role will involve working with volunteers who are able to visit the older person and have a conversation with them to explore most aspects of the clients’ life – what they are struggling with, what support they are looking for and what they would like to do that would make a difference and identify and agree a number of realistic and achievable targets that would enhance their life.

The Project Worker will then allocate a visiting volunteer to accomplish the goals that have been agreed and monitor the progress of each programme.

As well as having the ability to engage with older people effectively this role requires people who are self-starters and able to work on their own initiative. The successful candidate will have energy and enthusiasm and an ability to monitor and develop the project. A positive approach to team work is essential as the post is dependent on leading a group of Age UK Volunteers.

The nature of this post will require travel within a specified area therefore a requirement of this post will be access to and the use of a reliable car and a current driving licence.

This role will be subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service check.
