Who can benefit from this service?
Anyone over the age of 50, who lives alone and who is socially isolated or lacks confidence as a result of a recent life changing experience. Our service aims to reduce the feeling of loneliness and isolation amongst older people, improve wellbeing and enhance the quality of their lives.
How much does it cost?
Our service is free.

Due to a high demand for our service we are currently unable to take any new referrals for befriending home visits in the following locations: Bradford on Avon, Trowbridge, Westbury, Warminster. We are also currently carrying out a review of the befreidning service and while this is taking place we will only be offering short term befreinding.

Age UK Wiltshire provides a Telephone Befriending service, for individuals who find themselves socially isolated.
Telephone Befriending can be offered to individuals in the following circumstances:
- Those who are socially isolated and live alone but do not want or eligible to accept a volunteer home visitor.
- Those who are on the waiting list for the home visiting service.
- Those who are not eligible for the home visiting service even though they are socially isolated, e.g. they may live with a spouse; in a care home or have more than 7 hours a week social contact, but still feel isolated and lonely.
