Santander

Age UK and Santander’s partnership started in 2016 when we were selected as one of their chosen charities. Over the next 3 years, we raised an epic £3.2 million, together with the children's charity Barnardo's, and engaged Santander staff across the country through incredible events and meaningful moments. Our partnership funded our Ambitions for Later Life programme to give older people the support they need to deal with critical life moments, such as bereavement, through holistic, one-to-one sessions in the community and via our national Advice Line.

When our Charity of the Year partnership ended in 2018, both organisations knew that our partnership could not end there.

As one of the UK's leading banks, Santander has a presence in almost every community in the country. Their employees frequently witness the challenges faced by their older customers, therefore we knew that there was a lot more we could do together at the end of our Charity of the Year partnership.

So, since 2019, we’ve been able to build on the legacy of our Charity of the Year partnership and develop a truly strategic partnership that has helped Age UK to provide digital skills support to older people across the country.

By supporting Age UK’s Think Digital programme, Santander helped Age UK provide digital support to more than 1,300 older people, and helped us to pilot a delivery model that has helped Age UK develop, and secure further funding for, our Digital Champion Programme.

Santander’s continued support for this programme is now helping us provide digitals skills for older people with memory loss.
