You're not alone

We'll all experience feelings of loneliness at some point in our lives. However, for many older people, loneliness has unfortunately become a way of life. But Age UK know what do.

The Age UK Advice Line

Our free, confidential, national phone service is open 8am-7pm, 365 days a year for older people, their families, friends, carers and professionals. Whatever the worry, we’re here to offer support.

We understand you don't necessarily have to be alone to feel isolated from those around you. There are lots of reasons why someone might feel lonely.

There are almost a million older people across the UK who say they often feel lonely.

Find out more about the work we're doing to make older people know they're not alone, and that they have someone to turn to.

Telephone Friendship Service

Age UK's Telephone Friendship Service helps provide vital friendship to those who may have otherwise gone a week, even a month, without talking to anyone.

In 2021, we supported 157,021 friendship calls to older people. With 9 in 10 older people saying their wellbeing had improved since their first call.

Loneliness is devastating. I don't know what I would've done if it wasn't for Age UK's Telephone Friendship Service. I always look forward to Gemma's call.
