Enhancing Later Life
It seeks to achieve this by providing a range of care and support services to empower and enable older people to continue to live full and active lives, to participate in community activity, and to remain in good mental and physical health for as long as possible.
It is inevitable that a time may come when older people may need additional help and support to continue to live as they wish, be it at home or in a residential setting. Age UK Cheshire hopes to help to provide that support.
An important part of our work is representing older people and making their views, wishes and needs known to health and social care, housing, leisure and educational providers.
Valuing diversity, reducing inequality and ensuring all people are treated with dignity and respect are core themes of Age UK Cheshire. The organisation recognises that inequality, disadvantage and prejudice exist in society and that older people as a group are likely to suffer discrimination. No one who is in contact with Age UK Cheshire in any capacity will receive a less favourable response on the grounds of age, race, ethnicity, religion or belief, marital status including civil partnerships, gender, sexual orientation and physical or mental impairment. We wish to ensure that in all aspects of our work those people involved are representative of the local communities we serve.
Age UK Cheshire is an independently registered charity but works with others, including Age UK, in the Age UK Brand Partners Group.
The charity raises much of its income from trading and fundraising. We hope the public will support the charity by purchasing insurance and financial products, making donations and purchasing items from the charity shops, buying Christmas cards and taking part in fundraising events.
We have developed our fundraising activity with our donors and older people in mind. Anyone who is kind enough to consider supporting us can be reassured that we act responsibly in all our fundraising activities. Age UK Cheshire is a member of the Institute of Fundraising (IOF), the Fundraising Standards Board (FSB), and abide by the IOF and FSB Codes of Practice to ensure that all our activities are open and fair, honest and legal. The organisation is very proud that over 350 people in Cheshire volunteer to help the charity regularly.
Volunteers work in every activity within the organisation and find the experience to be very rewarding.
