Who can volunteer?

Almost anyone can be a volunteer. We have a wide range of roles that suit different people and skills.

Our volunteers are as diverse as the community we serve, ranging in age from 18 to 80. Some roles (such as befriending) require a regular weekly commitment, whereas others are more casual.

All volunteers occupy a position of trust, and since much of our work is with vulnerable people, we use the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) to help us to ensure their safety and well-being. This means that as well as providing references, you will be asked to show some forms of identification to verify the details you give. Having a criminal record will not necessarily bar you from volunteering with us.

Please get in touch with our Volunteering Manager at peter@ageukhf.org.uk for further information.

How much time do I need to give?

Our roles are varied, so whether you only have a few hours to spare or a whole day, please get in touch, and we can find a position to suit you. It takes time to recruit, induct and train our volunteers, so we ask for a minimum commitment of six months to a year. Please explore the roles above to find out more about time commitments. If none of our priority roles take your fancy, please do still reach out as it's likely we'll be able to find something suitable. Contact our Volunteering Manager Peter at peter@ageukhf.org.uk
