One of Danske Bank’s most senior executives is embarking on his very own version of the Giro d’Italia cycling over 300 miles across Northern Ireland in just three days.
With cycle mania taking over Northern Ireland at present, Managing Director Personal Banking Tony Wilcox will set out to complete this mammoth challenge on Wednesday 14 May in aid of the Bank’s new Charity Partner, Age NI.
The money raised will help Age NI deliver and improve upon its vital services including a freephone Advice Service, care services in the community and products such as personal alarms.
Tony will be setting off from Danske Bank in Lisburn visiting 18 Danske Bank branches and Age NI properties along the way.
Speaking of his upcoming challenge, Tony Wilcox said:
‘Having undertaken similar charity cycle challenges in the last two years and seen the huge support from staff and customers, I was really keen to take on the challenge again for our new charity partner Age NI. It’s a great way to visit branches and meet lots of customers along the way, while raising vital funds for a fantastic charity. The fundraising efforts of staff and customers so far has been fantastic and I would like thank everyone for their support.’
Linda Robinson, Age NI Chief Executive added:
‘Age NI is delighted that Tony is taking on this incredible cycle in support of the charity. Staff and clients will be on hand to welcome him as he visits Age NI care services and shops along his route. We would encourage people across NI to visit their local Danske Branch and sponsor him as he takes on this inspirational challenge. It is a great way for everyone to come together and we wish Tony all the very best for the challenge ahead.’
Danske Bank branches will be supporting Tony before and during his cycle challenge by organising their own in branch fundraising activities so all customers are encouraged to come out and support Tony as he cycles as well as lending their support to the countless fundraising activities taking place in Danske Bank branches right across Northern Ireland.
