The winning entry in our 2016 photo competitionLast year we were looking for photographers to help us celebrate Positive Ageing in our photo competition.

The competition attracted nearly 40 entries, with judges praising the high standard of images, which ranged from older people climbing Snowdon to a sixty-plus rock band.

The judges thought Shannon Vaughan's photo of her nan ready for a fancy-dress party summed up the idea that growing older doesn't stop you having fun.

'Shannon's image was really natural and captured the fun that her nan was having at the party,' said Kevin Moore, Director of Operations for Age UK Shropshire Telford & Wrekin.

Heather Osborne with competition winner Shannon Vaughan and Shannon's nan PaulineShannon was presented with her award and a certificate at a small prize-giving party held at our offices in Shrewsbury.

The second place entry in our 2016 photo competitionSecond prize went to Clare Stow for her photo of a 99 ice cream cornet for an ice cream loving 99 year old.

The third place entry in our 2016 photo competitionIan Kidd was awarded third prize for his photo of Bridgnorth Walking Club taken during an ascent of Snowdon.

Some of the photographs entered in the competition will be used by Age UK Shropshire Telford & Wrekin in our publications to promote the work of the charity.

A big thank you to everyone who took part and helped us celebrate Positive Ageing so successfully.
