Information and advice

We know that growing older doesn't come with a manual. Later life may bring changes and opportunities to your life and you may need to know about rights, organisations and services which are unfamiliar to you.

That's why we provide free information and advice to help you on diverse topics ranging from claiming benefits, Power of Attorney, care at home and care homes.

Information Topics

Much of the legislation which gives older people in Scotland rights and protections differs from that in England; Equalities and Human Rights and Employment rights are UK-wide but most other rights for older people covered by Scottish legislation.

You can call our helpline for information and advice on 0800 12 44 222 or browse our range of information guides. You can find our publications by following links from this page or if you would like free paper copies you can order them by calling our helpline, emailing publications@agescotland.org.uk or sending an order on our Publications list.

A small favour

All the information and advice we provide on the website is free and completely independent.

But demand is going up. We are an ageing population and more people than ever are coming to us for support, which is why we need to ask for help.

If you are able to, just a small gift today could help us reach even more older people wherever the need is greatest.
