Face your fears for Age Scotland this Halloween

27 September 2021

The national charity for older people is inviting thrill-seeking fundraisers to face their fears this Halloween with two exciting activities in Perthshire.

On Friday 29 October, there’s an opportunity to take a leap of faith with the ‘Spooky Swing’ event – taking place at the UK’s first permanent bridge swing, suspended 40m above the River Garry in Killiecrankie.

Then on Sunday 31 October, fundraisers can take part in the ‘Blackout Bungee’ – a once-in-a lifetime freefall experience crafted by the experts at Highland Fling Bungee. After an airborne flight lasting a few seconds at over 50 mph, a special Bungee cord springs you back to normal, upright, life.

Both the swing and bungee experiences use the latest technology and safety equipment and are led by qualified experts.

All funds raised will go towards Age Scotland’s vital services, including the national friendship line, which offers a place older people can turn if they are in need of support, comfort and reassurance or even just missing a friendly voice.

Age Scotland’s Chief Executive, Brian Sloan, said:

“Whether you’re a thrill-seeker or fancy a new and exciting challenge, what better time to face your fears than Halloween?

“It’s wonderful that these kinds of events are now able to take place again, as they’re a great way for people to get involved with fundraising while also offering the opportunity to tick something exciting off their bucket list.

“By taking part in the Blackout Bungee or Spooky Swing challenge, you’ll be helping to raise funds to support lonely and isolated older people. Every £5 raised will enable us to provide a much-needed friendship call, making sure our service users are not alone as the nights start drawing in.

“This Halloween, we hope you’ll take the plunge as you join us for what’s sure to be an unforgettable adrenaline-fueled experience.”
