Share What You Love

Share What You logo100,000 older people in Scotland feel lonely most or all of the time. To tackle this, we’re calling on everyone to pledge something that they have access to: time.

It may be precious but a little goes a long way. By spending a small amount of time with an older person who lives alone, you’re giving them the chance to go out, meet new people and feel part of society.

Age Scotland wants to show Scotland’s older generation that we really care about them and we’re encouraging people of all ages to share something that they love doing with an older neighbour, relative or even someone that you speak to on your daily commute.

We need you to help us tackle Scotland’s loneliness crisis

Loneliness is a public health crisis. It is as bad for someone's health as smoking 15 cigarettes a day. Today in Scotland at least 100,000 older people feel lonely all or most of the time. That's one person on every street. Together we can beat it.

Do your part to end loneliness

Commit to doing your part to end loneliness by sharing what you love with an older person.

How to get involved

There are lots of activities that you could share with an older person. Here's just some examples to help get you started: Get baking, go to a football game, go to an art class, do yoga, do some gardening, take a dog for a walk, go to the theatre, go on a spa day, go for a stroll in the countryside, visit a museum, play golf, practice a foreign language

By sharing what you love, you can make a big difference and help Age Scotland cut loneliness and isolation figures in half by 2025.

Spread the word (and the love!) by capturing your activity on social media.

Add a picture or short video to your post with the person you are spending time with and tag #ShareWhatYouLove and Age Scotland.

We’ll be curating all the fantastic activities right here.

You can also show your support by sharing our campaign materials, which you can download here.

What will you share?

Let us know what you’ve been up to!
