The Wellbeing Flower resource kit

The Wellbeing Flower is a group activity resource for organisers of older people’s clubs and services. Using it will highlight how you currently contribute the health and wellbeing of your members and services users, and how you can enhance that contribution.

The resource includes a table-top poster, a facilitator's handbook, and activities cards and templates. In a group of 4-8 participants you will spend three 2-hour workshops (or a single ‘away day’) exploring key later life wellbeing topics, concluding with action planning.  The topics include food and drink, movement, emotional wellbeing, brain health and social connection.

Periodically we will offer free workshops that enable participants to use the Wellbeing Flower with their group or service.  For updates about future workshops dates please subscribe here to our monthly Wellbeing in Later Life email bulletin.

The Age Scotland Health and Wellbeing Team can also facilitate Wellbeing Flower sessions, subject to availability.  Please email healthandwellbeing@agescotland.org.uk if this is of interest.

Fun Active Taster Games for groups

Age Scotland offers free fun active taster games to demonstrate how your group can build physical activity into regular get-togethers in a fun and sociable way.  Research shows that adding a little extra physical activity into daily routines makes it more likely that someone will enjoy a long and healthy life, and that it’s never too late to start.

Our Healthy Active Ageing Trainer is available to host tasters of our fun active games, Body Boosting Bingo or Power Quiz, online or in-person (subject to current covid safety guidance).  These games incorporate light physical movements that develop strength, balance and flexibility in older adults, and that are based on research evidence.  There are seated and standing options for each movement.

To find out more and book a taster session email: healthandwellbeing@agescotland.org.uk or call 0333 323 2400 and ask to speak to the Health and Wellbeing Team.

Introducing Body Boosting Bingo

Introducing Body Boosting Bingo

Body Boosting Bingo is game of bingo with a twist.  In Body Boosting Bingo the familiar rhyming bingo calls are linked to a movement, for example ‘Number 10, let’s twist again’. Players are invited to join in doing movements along to a fun music score. There are 30 numbers and movements that could be called. First to get a line is winner. The session lasts 45 minutes to an hour. For details and booking email healthandwellbeing@agescotland.org.uk.

In the video below Body Boosting Bingo creators Jenny and Yolanda introduce the game.
