How can we help?

Age UK East Grinstead are developing an Outreach Service within the East Grinstead district. We can assist older people, in rural areas, by linking them to statutory and voluntary groups that offer solutions to specific needs. We aim to enhance residents lives by: promoting independence and wellbeing, increasing involvement in the community by accessing services and offering friendly support. If residents are feeling isolated, we offer a friendly face and someone to talk to.

This free service places an Outreach Coordinator and volunteers, at the heart of the community, who identify older people, that may be reluctant to engage with services. By linking with local organisations, we aim to identify residents who want support and might be hard to find. With a rapidly aging population Age UK East Grinstead and District is keen to help combat loneliness and isolation through the development of community action. We work to identify solutions to issues such as isolation, health, wellbeing, care, finance, housing or computer skills.

We can support residents in the following ways:

  • help them start an activity such as a walking group,
  • assist someone with dementia to join a singing group and inform their carer about support groups or
  • support local volunteers to set up a social club for elderly people and assist the group while they are developing.

The service is available for?

Any person aged 50 years plus. In the following areas: Ashurst Wood, Copthorne, Crawley Down, Sharpthorne, Turners Hill, West Hoathly and Worth.

If you know of an elderly resident in the above areas who requires support, please contact the Co-ordinator.
