We have over 150 volunteers helping to provide a range of services to older people in the Barnsley area. Our volunteers come from all walks of life, and volunteer with us for different reasons. They contribute in a variety of ways, depending on their own experiences and skills, enabling us to make a positive difference to the lives of others.
Volunteering roles are quite diverse, and we can therefore appeal to a wide audience. We can offer opportunities ranging from charity shop work, supporting craft sessions, driving and odd jobs, through to roles that have a strong training element such as befriending, insurance, and information & advice.
Despite having a large number of volunteers, we are constantly looking to recruit more willing helpers with a view to expanding and developing our services.
It is very important that our volunteers are fulfilled and happy. We therefore ensure that we show our appreciation at different times throughout the year, offering tailored support, organising an expenses-paid summer trip, arranging a Christmas party, and presenting volunteers with awards for their services to the charity.
