Residents of the Penistone Area are invited to the launch of the Social Inclusion Project (Penistone) on Thursday 23rd February, 11:00am – 1:00pm at the St John’s Community Centre, Church Street, Penistone S36 6AR. The event will be in the Lower Hall.
The Social Inclusion Project aims to prevent vulnerable older people in the area from becoming lonely or socially isolated. The launch will provide an introduction to the Social Inclusion Project and an opportunity to find out more:
Why it is needed and who it is for
The Good Neighbour Scheme, Car Scheme and Travel Companions
How everyone in the local community can get involved
There will also be information about the other services and support that Age UK Barnsley provides.
We want to hear what you think about the issue of social isolation and loneliness amongst older people, what is already available in the area and what gaps there are and what you think are the priorities.
The event is open to everyone, and we’d especially like to encourage older people, their families and anyone who works with or supports older people to come to the event. Free refreshments will be provided.
There is no need to book a place, but if you’d like to find out more please contact us.
