Home visitors & good neighbour volunteers

As well as providing regular visits to older people in their own homes, volunteers in this project may take isolated older people to visit their lifelong friends and family, or may act as a friendly companion giving an older person the support or encouragement they need to either join a new club or make use of a community facility such as the library.

Our volunteers are trained and supported in their role, with regular supervision meetings, introductory and on-going training. A 12 hour emergency contact system runs along side the co-ordinators open door policy.  We strive, wherever possible to place volunteers in roles that suit their experience, preference and character.  Volunteers select days, times and area they work.  The volunteering role can be a fulfilling and rewarding experience for those who are willing to dedicate at least one hour a week to Age UK Dudley.

At present we have 90 volunteers on the scheme but we would be delighted to hear from you if you think you would like to help us.
