Age UK East London, and constituent charities Age UK’s Hackney, Newham and Tower Hamlets, is a growing and expanding organisation.
OPRG Co-ordinator- City & Hackney
The City and Hackney Older People’s Reference Group (C&H OPRG) OPRG addresses the marginalisation and exclusion of older people from society's decision-making structures and processes. It operates by providing channels through which older people can engage with policy-makers and providers, encouraging its members to supply primary and experiential evidence of need which can, through wider dissemination and the co-production of services, eventually formulate both local and national solutions to generic issues including that of social isolation. The C&H OPRG Co-ordinator will work closely with the Chair and a wider forum of older people to co-ordinate, facilitate and administer these core aims.
Additionally, a number of projects will fall within the remit of the C&H OPRG. In particular the Community Ambassador Project aims to recruit a core group of 15 older people with whom we will co-produce a programme of training and support to enable them to become influential leaders and representatives of older people living in Hackney. This is part of a wider programme, Connect Hackney, and the C&H OPRG Co-ordinator will take the lead on facilitating the co-design and co-production and delivery of this piece of work.
