On 8 December, not only were lucky guests royally entertained with a packed programme of festive treats, they also raised £90,000 to help older people feel less lonely.
The ever-witty Penny Smith hosted the evening, which starred the voice of M People Heather Small with her hit singles ‘Proud’ and ‘Moving on up’, alongside spine-tingling performances from soprano Laura Wright. Guests were also treated to sensational performances from the ACM Gospel Choir and the London Gay Men’s Chorus.
The programme also included brilliant readings from stars including actresses Amanda Redman MBE, Miriam Margolyes OBE and Game of Thrones actor Charles Dance OBE. The congregation also got involved; heartily singing carols ‘Ding Dong Merrily on High’ and ‘Good King Wenceslas’.
The evening ended with Laura Wright beautifully performing the festive classic ‘White Christmas’ alongside the choirs and congregation.
No one should have no one. Help us change older people's lives for the better.
