Sometimes it's the smallest of things that can make our day. Here are some ideas for small acts of kindness that could make a difference for an older person.
Pick up the phone
Don't wait for a special occasion. Brighten an older person's day by giving them a call and letting them know how much you care.
Spread the warmth to an older neighbour
We're more vulnerable to the cold as we get older. Why not invite an older neighbour round for tea or maybe offer to walk their dog? Keep an eye out for cold weather alerts.
Donate your extra change
Did you know £5 could help answer a call to our advice line from a vulnerable older person in need of support?
Offer to help with their shopping
When you next go to the supermarket, ask an older neighbour if they'd like you to get something for them while you're out.
Donate your items to an Age UK Shop
Every bag donated helps to raise much-needed funds, allowing us to continue our vital work of supporting those who are facing later life alone. Your items are worth 25% more if you sign up for Gift Aid (ask in store for details). What you can donate.
We'd love to hear about your acts of kindness
Whether you've done something nice for an older person or someone has made your day, we'd love to hear your stories.
