Get Volunteering

From helping people navigate challenges they’re facing to enabling them to make the most of their community, volunteering with Age UK Islington is a great way to know you’re making a difference.

Volunteers' Week

Come and talk to us about how you could make a difference to someone in Islington: Drop in Information Sessions – 1-2pm & 2-3pm, Fri 2nd June, Tues 6th June, Wed 7th June. 9 Manor Gardens, N7 6LA. No need to book.

Four ways you can volunteer

  • Office Angel

Based in the heart of our organisation, a team of volunteers help us with everything from office tasks and data entry to greeting guests and contacting people about upcoming activities.
  • People Person

We need people who can help with outbound catch up phone calls, one-on-one advice meetings or more regular visits with people of all ages.
  • Expert Adviser

From IT to Finance to organising events, we can often harness the skills that volunteers have to offer, for example, either as a client IT Tutor, or to provide expert help in the running of our organisation.
  • Future Matters

Help people with end of life planning, at community events and/or one to one appointments, through our Future Matters programme. Full training given, perfect if you have great people skills.

Why people volunteer

  • Daniel Jeffrys

“The perception that you are ‘doing something for nothing’ couldn’t be further from the truth. Volunteering is one of the most rewarding things you can do and you will find that the more you put into the experience, the more you’ll get out of it.”
  • Ella Davies

“Ideally I’d like to get every old person out, instead of them sitting at home looking at four walls. No one has to be lonely. Get Togethers are something to look forward to, and there are so many things going on in Islington.”
