Age UK Leicester Shire & Rutland is a local charity which promotes the wellbeing of older people by helping to make life fulfilling and enjoyable. 

Our services for older people are wide ranging and cover the Leicestershire and Rutland area.

  • Anything Goes

    The Anything Goes Project helps socially isolated, disadvantaged and vulnerable older people who are either currently experiencing, or at risk of experiencing, social isolation and loneliness.
  • Befriending & Mentoring Scheme

    “Currently, a million people over 65 feel lonely ‘often’ or ‘always’and 3.7 million people live alone, many with no means of getting out and about.”
  • Business Directory

    The Age UK Leicester Shire & Rutland Business Directory is the first online, one-stop directory to be developed specifically for older people.
  • Daybreak

    Our daybreak initiative is designed to specifically meet the needs of older people living in rural locations for whom traditional day care is less appropriate.
  • Digital Champions

    Age UK Leicester Shire & Rutland are able to offer events, demonstrations and courses to introduce Digital Technology to older people and make getting on-line fun and enjoyable.
  • Caring For Carers

    We offer the opportunity for Carers to take part in relaxing activities, social gatherings and outings. In addition, we offer well-being services for Carers who live in Leicester and are caring for a family member or friend.
  • Handyman Service

    Age UK Leicester Shire & Rutland offers professional, skilled and experienced help with domestic and gardening tasks. Whilst we can’t offer an emergency call-out service, our response is speedy and will be competitively priced.
  • Help at Home

    Our team of workers can provide the necessary support and assistance needed, as often as you need it and at the level you need it. We are available 24-7 and can offer male, female and multi-lingual staff.
  • Home Visiting Scheme

    Our befriending services offer companionship and support to older people who are lonely or isolated, provide a link to the outside world and can act as a gateway to other services and support.
  • Legal Services

    Staff at Shakespeares are nationally-acknowledged legal experts in a vast range of areas and are now on-hand to help advise you on any important legal decisions you may have.
  • Local House Clearance Service

    Are you replacing furniture or de-cluttering? Do you need to dispose of serviceable items of furniture to make room for new?
  • Loneliness Prescription Service

  • Lunch Clubs

    Our lunch clubs offer the chance to socialise and to enjoy a hot lunch with friends on a weekly or monthly basis.
  • Macmillan Cancer Support Project

    The Age UK Leicester Shire & Rutland Macmillan Cancer Support Project is available to anyone over the age of 50 who has been affected by cancer.
  • Men in Sheds

    Our Men's Shed is a larger version of the typical man’s shed in the garden – a place where he feels at home and pursues practical interests with a high degree of autonomy.
  • Minority Ethnic Services

    In recognition of this diversity, Age UK Leicestershire & Rutland has actively supported the development of services and support for older people from a wide variety of minority ethnic communities in several ways.
  • Residential and Nursing Home Advisory

    Age UK Leicester Shire & Rutland set up the residential and nursing homes advisory service to help people in just this situation.
  • Resouce Centres

    Our Resource Centres in Leicestershire and Rutland provide a number of services, activities and events.
  • Telephone Befriending Service

    Not having someone to talk to regularly can be lonely and isolating, particularly if you’re used to sharing your home and time with others. A friendly chat on the phone can make all the difference.
  • Room Hire

    Age UK Leicester Shire & Rutland's centrally located Lansdowne House and Clarence House have several rooms available for hire. Both resource centres benefit from excellent road and rail links.
  • Wellbeing Groups

    We offer wellbeing groups across the region attended by people with a wide range of abilities and disabilities, including physical disability or reduced mobility, mental health needs and learning disabilities.
