  • Job Title: Digital Engagement Outreach Officer
  • Location: Agile Working - home based with flexibility to work from various office and community locations. You may be directed to work in a variety of work places as this is an outreach project, and also work from home.
  • Hours per week: 24 hours across 4 days (Mon-Fri), some weekend work when appropriate.
  • Salary: £18,636.80 - £20,038.20 (FTE), pending pay review 1st April 2023

About the role

This is an exciting job for someone who is confident in engaging with with older people in local communities and using digital equipment such a mobile phones and tablets; working with older people to enable them to become more confident in the use of technology through arranging and delivering basic digital skills training sessions in a variety of settings to groups and individuals.

To deliver from our Mobile Outreach Vehicle in identified locations, supported by our volunteer Digital Champions. The post will at times require the post-holder to drive and set up the Mobile Outreach Vehicle in identified locations.

To facilitate the tablet loan scheme to older clients in identified communities across Lindsey area


Main responsibilites, tasks and duties:

  • To deliver Basic Digital Skills training and digital support to older people in a variety of settings, including on the Mobile Outreach Project, in community venues, by telephone, in client’s own homes and remotely according to the client’s needs
  • To set up training plans for groups and individuals, including the provision and supply of loan tablets where necessary
  • To work closely with the Volunteering Coordinator to help to recruit a team of ‘Digital Champions’ from the communities that are experiencing digital exclusion, so that project participants can benefit from their support and training
  • To train and support volunteer ‘Digital Champions’ to enhance project delivery
  • To support the Projects Manager and wider team to promote the scheme
  • To liaise with the Projects Manager (and any other staff/ volunteers) to identify clients who are unable or unwilling to attend community venues, but who could benefit from and are interested in digital skills support
  • To ensure that all monitoring data is accurately captured and shared with the wider Age UK Lindsey team as applicable
  • To coordinate referrals into and through the project, making sure that residents get the support they need to get (and stay) connected
  • To use a variety of digital devices such tablets and laptops and provide high standard of support to older people that enables them to use digital devices
  • To explore presenting digital issues and provide support in an accessible format so as to identify a suitable solution for the older person
  • Maintain case records using a bespoke CRM system (Salesforce)
  • Maintain an up-to-date working knowledge of various methods of digital communication

Essential information

This is a fixed-term contract until 30 November 2023, with a possibility of extension, subject to funding. An enhanced DBS check will be required for this role and you will need a full, clean driving licence, access to a car and business-use insurance.
