Our ‘Community Companions’ volunteers offer practical companionship to help lonely or isolated older people re-engage with life outside their home.

How we can help you

Feeling isolated and lonely can affect both physical and mental wellbeing. Our recently launched Community Companions service can help you find and join local activities and groups:

• Our Volunteer Lead will work with you to agree what it is you would like to do. They will then match you with a Wellbeing Volunteer.

• The Wellbeing Volunteer can help you in many different ways – planning how you are going to get to your new chosen activity, going along with you the first few times or meeting you there, and then checking in with you to see how you managed on your own at the activity or group.

• Our Volunteer Lead will meet with you again after an agreed amount of time to see if you have achieved your goal(s) and if you still need the help of your community Companion.
