Man laughingOur vibrant respite centre at Grays Fair Court, Norwich gives our guests time to socialise and take part in activities safe in the knowledge they will be receiving expert personal care. The centre is purposefully designed for holidays and re-habilitation so un-like respite care provided in residential homes we only provide short breaks and if required support and care when you leave via our Home Support service.

As a specialist centre for Respite care we offer high standards of 24 hour care provided by qualified care staff in hotel-style accommodation. We provide for short notice emergency admission as well as advanced bookings.

We are proud that more people use our respite centre than any other dedicated residential respite service in Norfolk.

Being located in a community care complex means our guests have access to other services provided by Age UK Norfolk such as information and advice as well as the activities ran by our Day Support Club. There is also access to the amenities available to the Housing with Support and Care residents such as a hairdresser and chiropodist.

Why not take advantage of our respite centre in order to rest or recuperate following an accident or illness, or treat yourself to a break away from home. Our service also offers support to individuals who care for relatives or friends by helping them to plan for holidays or a break away.

  • Encourage guests to have a positive and rewarding stay by ensuring privacy, dignity, independence and choice.
  • Draw up an individual care plan, with your help, designed to suit your requirements.

Your room

The rooms are attractively decorated with modern furnishings and colours. All rooms are equipped with a digital television and radio. The en-suites are fitted with a shower, toilet and basin. All rooms are fully wheelchair accessible and 10 are fitted with an overhead hoist. We also offer an assisted bath for those who find bathing difficult.

 

Your meals

Meals are served in the restaurant and in your room, and we offer a choice of menu. All special diets are catered for. No booking is needed. We offer early morning tea or coffee, and refreshments are served mid-morning and afternoon.

Individual support is available for those who need assistance at mealtimes. Visitors are welcome to join respite guests for lunch and/or tea. You or your visitors are free to help yourself to drinks in the dining area at any time.

Relatives and friends

Relatives and friends are encouraged to visit at any time and as often as they wish, but are asked to sign the visitor's book in the centre. Well-behaved pets may visit by arrangement.  Visitors to the centre can make drinks in the repite lounge.

As a charity who understands the needs of people in later life we put them at the centre of everything we do and our additional volunteer staff create a level of care unmatched by commercial organisations.
