Few things offer as much comfort as being able to sit back and relax in your favourite armchair. But it's not quite so relaxing when you find it difficult sitting down or getting up again, or can't quite get comfortable enough in a chair because it doesn't offer the support that you need.
That's why the Age UK Group† has specifically selected a range of Riser Recliner armchairs designed to give you the comfort and support you need at a reasonable price. We are proud to work with a leading UK mobility company, Handicare, who ensures that all our customers receive exceptional service. Together, we are continually working towards improving later life for everyone. All the Riser Recliner chairs featured here are guaranteed for quality, reliability, ease of use and safety.
Age UK has combined its own experience with feedback from customers, healthcare professionals and Handicare's understanding of the mobility market to make sure the Riser Recliner chair range suits different needs and different budgets.
Our chairs have a variety of options. For instance, you can opt for a specific choice of motor, a handset for left- or right-handed use or even a full heat-and-massage system to ease away the strains of the day.
From the cosiest of rooms to the grandest living space, the range of Riser Recliner chairs on offer are designed to fit in perfectly with your own personal environment.
The chairs can be designed to complement any decor. Whatever style or finish of fabric you choose, you can rest assured that your Riser Recliner chair will suit your home.

There are many things to take into account when choosing a new Riser Recliner chair; seat height, width and depth are all essential, but just as important is understanding the type of motor your chair will use to adjust its position, as well as safety features.
Unique, integral safety barrier: All Handicare Riser Recliner chairs come with a built in safety barrier as standard. The barrier is revealed when the chair rises and blocks any entry underneath.
Battery backup: All our Riser Recliner chairs feature an integrated battery-backup system, so that you are not stranded in the event of a power cut.
All Riser Recliner chairs feature single and dual motors, with tilt-in space and three-way movements.
Tilt-in space provides an even distribution of your weight as the whole chair tips back and extends.
Three-way movement provides a variety of variable seat to backrest options
For more information on either of these options, please speak to our specially-trained advisors who will explain them in more detail.
Each Riser Recliner chair can be enhanced with a range of accessories and optional extras to create a bespoke solution for the customer's individual requirements. From additional support to aesthetic extras and practical benefits to luxury features, the accessories and extras can be combined to offer the ultimate chair for you.

The Age UK Group believes that Orthopaedic and Riser Recliner chairs can be vital products in helping you to keep independent at home.
We firmly believe Handicare have a proven reputation for providing quality products and excellent service. In addition, Handicare will raise a minimum of £800,000 during 2011 for Age UK via the promotion and sale of independent living products*
Usually chairs will be delivered 3 weeks after the statutory 7-day cooling off period. It is possible that more specific, bespoke chairs, will be delivered 4-5 weeks after the 7-day cooling off period. You will always be given an accurate lead time at the point of order.
All Handicare Riser Recliners come as standard with a unique safety feature; a solid barrier that is revealed when the chair is raised. This means that there are no gaps anywhere round the chair, so that your pet can not get trapped underneath.
In the highly unlikely event of this happening, Handicare Ltd will send out an engineer. If the problem can't be rectified in your home and Handicare have to take the chair away to repair it, then a loan chair will be left until its return.
The chair you have ordered comes with a 5 year guarantee which starts from the date the chair is delivered. This guarantee covers cost of replacement parts and labour for any fault caused by or during manufacture or delivery. The chair may be repaired or replaced at our discretion. The guarantee does not cover damage or defects caused by misuse or user error, or your failure to correctly follow the manufacturer’s instructions.

† It's worth noting that if you need a Riser Recliner in order to maintain your independence (you can't manage without one), or to help with a medical condition, your local council or health service may be able to fund one for you.
However, different councils have different rules about what they will pay for, and different ways of supplying it. Some may want you to try other solutions before they agree to provide the chair. Others won't provide a Riser Recliner at all, but will provide specialist seating for people who have particular support needs.
If you are already seeing someone from your council or health service, and you think you need a Riser Recliner, ask about an assessment. If you think you should be assessed, call your council, or see your doctor for advice.
If you’re not entitled to any help or would prefer to purchase your own chair then our specially trained advisers are here to help.
