Excellence in volunteer management is essential for the development and running of a range of services and activities. Volunteering, particularly in later life, offers a great sense of well-being and ability to contribute to your community.

What Age UK does nationally

  • Produces resources to support and promote good practice in engagement and volunteering activity
  • Encourages engagement and volunteering developments that are responsive to the changing needs and preferences of people in later life and to changes in public policy
  • Delivers a range of projects and programmes aimed at developing and capturing best practice
  • Promotes engagement and volunteering services that address the needs of marginalised groups
  • Participates in key stakeholder groups relating to engagement and volunteering policy and practice
  • Identifies issues of concern in engagement and volunteering provision, drawing on the experience and knowledge of local contacts and exerts influence at national level
