Fire HQ is city charity's new home

A Sheffield older people’s charity has a new home, thanks to its developing partnership with South Yorkshire Fire & Rescue. Age UK Sheffield (AUKS) has moved into the emergency’s service’s Sheffield headquarters, which is the new location for its information, advice, and insurance services.
The site is ideally placed for the charity, directly opposite the Moor Market. Walk-in advice for over-50s is available Monday to Thursday, 10.30-3.30, whilst phone support and booked appointments are available during normal office hours.
Older people are the most likely to be killed or injured in fires, and the two organisations have worked together to sign partnership and data sharing agreements in the past year.
AUKS Chief Executive, Steve Chu, said: “We are delighted to be moving in with the Fire Service. It’s a natural partnership because, sadly, older people are at the highest risks from fire. Working together, we can help to reduce those risks. The location, directly opposite the Moor Market, is perfect for us, and very convenient for older shoppers who need to see us for information, advice, services and insurance.”
Chief Fire Officer, Jamie Courtney, said: “Age UK Sheffield, like many other charities and community organisations, is one of our Safe & Well referral partners so this move will not only assist our work in that area, but also demonstrates publicly our commitment to working more closely with partner organisations to make the most vulnerable safer from fire.”
