A little of your precious time given to Age UK South Gloucestershire will help improve the lives of older people.
Age UK South Gloucestershire would not be the organisation it is today without the dedicated support of its volunteers. Volunteers are involved in all of our services enabling us to reach more people in need of help.
Urgent need for information and Advice Volunteers
We are in need of volunteers who are willing to be trained to provide free benefits checks. The role can either be based in our Thornbury office or in clients homes. Full training will be provided and the opportunity will be supported by our Information and Advice Manager.
Volunteering for the befriending service
We are in need of befriending volunteers; we currently have a waiting list in excess of 75 people waiting for a volunteer to visit them once a week for a chat. We urgently need volunteers in the Kingswood, Longwell Green and Filton communities. If you feel that you can give one hour a week to help an older person feel less lonely please get in contact.
New volunteering opportunity
We have a new volunteering opportunity within our Integrated Care Project, where we are working with patients identified by three GP surgeries. Volunteers are key to the success of this project and are needed to provide information, signposting and ongoing support to help people achieve their goals. This could involve supporting someone with identifying and joining a new club, checking they have enough medication to last the weekend or helping to build confidence following a fall.
The three GP surgeries are based in Yate, Downend and Cadbury Heath. For more information, please contact Michelle Dent (Volunteering Manager) on 01454 411707 or complete an enquiry form.
