Age UK Wandsworth joins Jo Cox Commission to raise awareness of loneliness.
Age UK Wandsworth are proud to be a partner of the Jo Cox Commission on Loneliness. The Commission on Loneliness was started by MP Jo Cox before her murder last year, which took place in Birstall as she was about to start her constituency drop in sessions. The Commission is a cross party initiative designed to raise public awareness and mobilise action to tackle loneliness, and launched on 31 January this year.
Honouring the memory of Jo Cox MP, the Commission will highlight the millions of lonely people of all ages in our communities and what we can all do to change this.
"Spotlight Period" - March to April 2017
Throughout 2017 there will be a “spotlight period” on different groups of people who are known to be more likely to feel isolated. The spotlight on older people will be March - April 2017, which Age UK are leading on at a National level.
Maybe you are experiencing loneliness and would like companionship at home, we can provide this with the help of our volunteers, this service is offered through our Be-a-friend service.
Perhaps you are unable to get out of the house by yourself and feeling isolated or lonely, we have volunteers who offer short local trips out through our Out and About service.
