Here are some of the ways we are currently working with organisations across Essex.
Working in partnership with Wilkin & Sons Ltd in December 2017 we launched ‘Tiptree’s Tinsel Tea Rooms’, a campaign that set out to ensure that No One Should Have No One at Christmas. Established in 1885, Wilkin & Sons Ltd operates a chain of tea rooms (Tiptree) in Essex whilst producing their own brand of preserves and products through farming. In December 2017, the Tiptree tea rooms supported Age UK Essex by holding events at six of their tea rooms. Together we invited older people from across the county to spend a morning chatting to Age UK Essex volunteers, whilst enjoying some of Tiptree’s tasty festive refreshments.
As part of the wider Age UK partnership, Santander branches across the county have been showing their support to older people living in Essex through lots of wonderful in-branch fundraising activities. Southend-on-Sea employees collected donations in fancy dress at special Gangsta Granny performances at the Cliffs Pavilion, while Clacton-on-Sea employees took part in a static bike ride. Employees in Colchester organised a tea dance for their local community and Basildon Santander held a spooky Halloween event for customers in October.
Santander will be supporting Age UK Essex for a further 18 months. Their support will really make a difference to the lives of older people across Essex.
Age UK Essex and Radio Essex joined forces in 2017 to raise awareness of National Older People’s Day. National Older People’s Day is an annual event that helps celebrate the achievements and contributions that older people make to our society and helps tackle negative attitudes and outdated stereotypes. Our partnership with Radio Essex set about to highlight the difference older people make to their communities.
The English Cream Tea Company
In December 2017 The English Cream Tea Company offered afternoon tea enthusiasts the opportunity to share a festive feast for four in support of Age UK Essex. The English Cream Tea Company asked their customers to make a donation to Age UK Essex and one lucky donor won a luxury afternoon tea hamper for four to share with their friends.
ebn (Effective Business Network)
ebn have been supporting Age UK Essex for a number of years. As well as offering them complimentary membership, and access to businesses across Essex, ebn held a charity ball in aid of Age UK Essex in November 2017.
