As a result of the current COVID-19 pandemic, a number of our services have been suspended and are operating with no face-to-face contact. However, we actively worked to build a network of volunteers who are able to assist us to support local older people.
We are currently recruiting volunteers to:
- deliver emergency shopping parcels
- make weekly wellbeing calls
We would love to hear from you if you think you can help. You do not need to commit to a certain number of hours per week and we need volunteers across the whole county of Essex.
We look forward to hearing from you.

"Here at Colchester United Football in the Community we first got in touch with Age UK Essex after we witnessed some of the fantastic work they were doing supporting older people during the Covid-19 pandemic and wanted to support this ourselves. Since starting our volunteering it has been fantastic to work with the team in assisting to deliver food parcels across Colchester and North Essex which has been made easy by Sue, Jodie & Barbara who have been so helpful and supportive in our volunteering. We look forward to continuing our work with them and even expanding how we can work together in the future."
"During the coronavirus pandemic I have been volunteering for AgeUK Essex shopping for and delivering emergency food parcels to their clients. To be met with such gratitude and thanks when delivering is so rewarding and heartwarming and I will most definitely continue to volunteer far into the future."
"I have been furloughed due to Covid 19 and wanted to help in the community. Age Uk Essex are such a special organisation, helping elderly communities in need at this time. From a friendly welfare phone call to delivering essentials these small acts of kindnesses mean so much to the people they service. It’s very rewarding. I hope I can continue in some capacity when my full time job starts up again."
