About the role

Our Befriending Service offers friendship and social contact to anyone over 60. We need volunteers to offer friendship to lonely older clients in the Thurrock area through a weekly visit. You will need good listening and communication skills and an understanding of issues facing older people.

Please note: This role will currently be conducted over the phone only. Home visits will ensue once it is safe and possible to do so.

Like the sound of this role? Before you get in touch with us, make sure you can:

  • Visit clients within the areas of:
    - Laindon
    - Grays
    - Tilbury
    - Orsett
    - Chadwell St Mary
    - Stanford Le Hope

  • Give a minimum of one hour a week for at least a period of 12 months

  • Confidently communicate and be an active listener

  • Be available Monday to Friday during the day
