The Hive and Age UK Herefordshire & Worcestershire launch new monthly Computer Café for older people
The Hive and local charity Age UK Herefordshire & Worcestershire are launching a new monthly Computer Café for older people as part of Internet Safety Day on the 5th February 2019.
The partnership project, which is also supported by the One Digital programme, invites older people to brush up on their PC and online skills while learning how to use the internet securely.
Janine Downes, Hive Manager said: "We get lots of queries in The Hive from people who have computers or tablets, but lack the confidence to use them for essential things like shopping or banking. We're thrilled to welcome the experts on digital and internet safety to help our customers at the Computer Café"
The Café aims to encourage safe use of digital devices and helpful apps or online tools. As well as getting to grips with how your computer or tablet work, topics covered in the sessions will include; Internet Safety, Online Banking, Shopping Online, finding services & support online and Social Media. Each session will be supported by digital champions from local Worcestershire organisations.
Joining us on the first session will be, the Cyber PCSO from West Mercia Police and Lloyds bank. If you are a local organisation that would like to be part of the Computer Café, please contact us.
Philip Talbot, CEO of Age UK Herefordshire & Worcestershire said: “We are delighted to be working in partnership with The Hive to bring digital skills to older people, The Hive is a fantastic community hub and together we can help encourage confident and safe use online for older people.”
