Creative Arts Social Groups Update: New club in Stourport and visit from The Jo Cox Foundation

Published on 12 February 2024 01:26 PM

After the positive launch and subsequent success of our first two Creative Arts Social Groups, we are delighted to announce that we’re launching a third group based in Stourport.

The new group will run from the Coach House in Stourport, and much like the other two groups based in Worcester and Hereford, will offer those who attend a chance to explore their creative side through a range of different art activities and styles - as well as a good provision of tea, coffee and cakes! The group will run every Thursday from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm, starting from Thursday 14th March. The first session is free, with the following sessions requiring a £3 donation that will help fund the group’s activities.

Our Creative Arts Groups have been booming in popularity lately, with a high attendance frequently at both of our current groups. In the space of a year, we’ve also managed to work with some important organisations, like the Museum of Royal Worcester and more recently The Jo Cox Foundation.

Our visit from The Jo Cox Foundation was in aid of the Great Winter Get Together - an initiative that attempts to tackle loneliness and isolation and bring people together. We’re grateful for their attendance and proud that our group is one of the ways that older people can come together and socialise, helping to reduce isolation and loneliness across the two counties.

Speaking in relation to the quick success of our Creative Art Groups and the launch of the new group based in Stourport, our Social Inclusion and Wellbeing Activities Coordinator Carley Edge said: “The Stourport Creative Arts Social Group is in the Ravenhurst Coach House, it is a great space with large windows to allow plenty of light, it reminds me of an artist’s studio! I’m looking forward to welcoming a small group of artists of all abilities, where we can all share our interest and knowledge of all things creative.”

If you are interested in finding out more or joining the new Stourport group, then please get in touch, as we anticipate demand for this group will be high much like our other Creative Arts Groups.

To reserve a space, please reach out to 0800 008 6077 and ask for Carley, or email referralhub@ageukhw.org.uk for more information. The full address for the new group is The Coach House, Ravenhurst Sanctuary Care, Stourport on Severn, DY13 BRU.
