Age UK Herefordshire and Worcestershire kicks-off ‘Strictly Walking Football’

Published on 08 February 2024 12:47 PM

Age UK Herefordshire and Worcestershire are launching a second Walking Football session in Worcester, taking place every Thursday from 11am-12.30pm at King George V playing fields.

The session branded Strictly Walking Football, is open to men and women over the age of 50 and will focus on maintaining the rules of the sport to ensure that all participants enjoy the pace whilst keeping them fit and active.

Jan Blazak who has supported Age UK H&W with the development of the group says:

“We want to attract people who are not currently playing, maybe nursing injuries, or simply wanting to dip their toes and test it out. We also want it to become a social support for those attending and engender a camaraderie amongst the group.”

“It will run every week regardless of numbers and if we do not have enough for a game, we will do low scale fitness work and drills as we build it up. We will do a proper warm up and warm down around each session, but mainly we will have a bit of fun and a laugh!”

The first session will begin on Thursday 15th February from 11am-12.30pm at King George V playing fields, Ash Avenue, Worcester, WR4 9TL.

If you are looking to give it a go, you can attend your first session for free with the following sessions costing £4. To find out more about strictly Walking Football then please contact Age UK H&W on 0800 008 6077 and ask for Carley or email referralhub@ageukhw.org.uk
