I started at Age UK H&W as a volunteer, rapidly becoming a Senior Trainer and now Training Co-ordinator. I am an expert in Moving and Handling instruction, being RoSPA trained. I've worked extensively with Health and Social Care Workers across the West Midlands and consistently improved quality of care standards in the industry. I am proud to lead a highly-respected dynamic team of trainers.

  • Lesley Young

When I retired, I joined Age UK H&W as a volunteer as Age UK National the largest charity associated with later life and they hold similar views to myself in that later life should be a positive stage and we should do all we can to live well in later life. I now use my teaching skills as part of the training team and enjoy researching the latest information and keeping myself up to date in all the areas I cover. Throughout my career I have gained several qualifications including; BSc in Microbiology, PGCE, Early Years Teaching Diploma, NVQ assessor awards D32/33, OCR examiner for Health & Social Care, OCN internal moderator for Age UK.

I joined Age UK over 9 years ago starting in the Trading arm of the Charity as a Trading Arranger. I brought many years of experience and qualifications within the competitive financial sector and integrated these skills within the Charity. I then moved to the Independent Living Team which supported people by installing adaptations and mobility aids in their homes, organising a team of handypersons and a dynamic NHS referral system.

I now work as a Training Administrator and find that my experience in a highly regulated Industry has fully equipped me with strong organisational and time management skills necessary for the role. Age UK H&W offers wonderful support and plenty of opportunities, along the way I have gained valuable Training to further my career including Dementia Training, GDPR Training, Fire Marshall, First Aid and many more.
