UPDATE Winter 2023: Our Worcester Community Garden group sessions are currently not running during the Winter however we aim to restart them again in the Spring. Additonally, the Community Gardens are still open for anyone to visit in their own time at their leisure. This page will be updated once our group sessions return in 2024. Thank you.

Do you enjoy being outdoors, have a passion for gardening or just an interest in supporting your local community?

If yes, then we would love to hear from you! Age UK Herefordshire and Worcestershire are setting up a group, in partnership with Transition Worcester Community Garden, to meet on a Wednesday, 11:00am to 1:00pm at Worcester Community Gardens near Pitchcroft.

Join us for an afternoon a week where we meet to join in and be part of a communal garden, we welcome everyone from seasoned gardening experts to those who are looking to get into it for the first time!

To Showcase the innovative space set up close to Worcester Racecourse, we spoke to Steve Dent, Chair of Trustees at Worcester Community Garden, about the spaces within.

Pollinator Garden

The Pollinator Garden is rich with life, the group has created specialised homes for many of its inhibitors, The Bee Hives are a key example as they are located ontop of a pontoon to prevent damage when flooding occurs, which can be a regular occurrence in the area. The bees also produce honey which can be purchased on site, along with other fruit, vegtables and plants locally grown.

Wildflower Garden

The Wildflower Garden is a stunning space to sit and relax in the heart of nature, the area has been developed to allow wildflowers to thrive through intelligent techniques such as growing yellow rattle flowers to keep grass growth to a minimum and allow these flowers to flourish.
