Could you help out at your local dementia cafe?

You'll be working with the Activities coordinator to enable the smooth running of the dementia cafes.

Location: We have eight cafes across Worcestershire, currently we have space for volunteers to join us at:

Bromsgrove Dementia Cafe
Bromsgrove Rugby Club, Finstall Road, Bromsgrove B60 3DH
Every 2nd Wednesday of the month 10:30am – 12:30pm

Hours: typically 3 - 5 hours per month.

Purpose of the role: To provide support to the Dementia Cafe group coordinator to enable the smooth running of the Café’s

• You will have the opportunity to improve your communication skills.
• You will be given full training for the role and opportunities to attend other Age UK H&W training courses for free like Dementia Awareness training.
• You will be helping to support older people across Worcestershire.
• You will be part of a close-knit team of volunteers and staff.

What is required of me? Our dementia cafe volunteers are required to have a patient and understanding attitude when they are helping to support clients.
We require our volunteers to commit to one session of volunteering per week but don’t worry if you are not well or are on holiday, we can always arrange cover.

  • Helping to set up the café beforehand including moving chairs and tables
  • Welcoming people as they arrive
  • Providing refreshments, teas, coffee, biscuits etc
  • Talking and supporting people whilst taking part in group activities
  • Helping to run and support session activities
  • Helping to clear away after the session

Travel expenses will be reimbursed to you.

As a volunteer at Age UK Herefordshire & Worcestershire you will receive a full induction and training for your specific role, including our in-house certificated Bitesize training, and a DBS check where necessary.
