Some of our regular volunteers have taken on extra responsibility for leading volunteer teams or organising special projects and this has been very helpful.

Lead volunteers ensure that volunteers in their team are made welcome, given the information they need for the role and thanked for their contribution.

Main duties will include:

  • Taking a register / collecting funds if needed.
  • Make volunteers feel welcome.
  • Ensure volunteers are given the information they need.
  • Assist with set up for sessions / meetings/ events as appropriate.
  • Thanking volunteers for their contribution at the end of the session.
  • Highlight any issues with the service manager.
  • Assist with guidance / training where needed.
  • Chair volunteer engagement meetings

  • Are prepared to complete any necessary initial and ongoing learning and attend future support meetings.
  • Teamwork.

What to expect:

Induction: you will receive training, and an induction

While in role: As part of your volunteer supervisions, your staff contact will check in on how you’re finding the role and give you the opportunity to flag any additional training or support you feel you need.

Optional: you can attend network meetings with other Volunteers to learn from and share best practices.

This role would need regular commitment to be arranged with service leader (time commitment would depend on service supported). It will also take place on site or in the community (depending on service / project supported).
