Do you have a skill to share such as carpentry, masonry, horticulture or other? Do you enjoy supporting others? Are you interested in helping your local community?

If yes, then we would love to hear from you! Age UK Herefordshire and Worcestershire are setting up a Men in Sheds in the Pershore area (and hopefully throughout the two counties in the future). If you are enthusiastic about the history and reasoning behind Men in Sheds, then we have just the opportunity for you!

Men in Sheds originated in Australia in 1990, they provide a place to pursue practical interests at leisure, to practice skills and enjoy making and mending.

Men in Sheds has many more benefits as well as improving health and wellbeing including:

  • Creating social opportunities
  • Sharing and learning new skills
  • Feeling a sense of achievement and being part of a group
  • Boosting confidence and self-esteem
  • Combating loneliness and isolation
  • Connecting with the local community

We believe in creating opportunities for social groups and activities with a focus on improving health and well-being and combating loneliness, and if you do too, we would love to hear from you. We would require a basic DBS check to be done as part of the volunteering process.

As a volunteer at Age UK Herefordshire & Worcestershire you will recieve a full induction, including our in-house certificated Bitesize training, and a DBS check where necessary.

Please contact Age UK Herefordshire and Worcestershire on 0800 008 6077 and ask for Caroline or Carley or email volunteering@ageukhw.org.uk to find out more.
