Armed Forces Veterans Service Telephone Befriending Volunteer

Can you spare some time to chat with a Veteran? You could brighten up the day of someone feeling lonely, isolated or in need of companionship with a friendly phone call every week or two.

Location: From home via phone, helping support Veterans across Worcestershire and Herefordshire.

This role is flexible and we would appreciate any time commitment; however a regular commitment of one hour a week would be ideal. If you can offer more time, you can support more than one person.

This could be the perfect role for you if you are:

  • Interested in The Armed Forces through either having served or a general interest in military history.
  • Interested and understanding of issues facing older people.
  • Enjoy making new friends and listening to fascinating stories from over the years.

  • Your phone calls begin

No prior experience is needed, you will receive training to ensure you can provide the support needed for the role and Age UK Worcestershire and Herefordshire core training to inform you of our regulations.

As a volunteer at Age UK Herefordshire & Worcestershire you will recieve a full induction, including our in-house certificated Bitesize training, and a DBS check where necessary.
