When someone experiences a Dementia Diagnosis, it doesn’t just have an impact on the person with the condition – it can have an impact on the people around them who take on caring responsibilities.
We know that it is crucial for caregivers to have an opportunity to connect with other people in similar situations. It’s why we offer a Dementia Carers Group. As a part of this group, people have the opportunity to:
• Make friends with other caregivers who may have similar lived experience of caring responsibilities
• Discuss how they are feeling about and finding the experience of being a caregiver
• Ask questions about the support which is available in the local community
• Find out more from other caregivers about their strategies for coping with their caring obligations
This is a safe environment where carers are encouraged to be honest about their experiences and the challenges that they are facing. We believe that supportive and constructive environments are crucial in ensuring caregivers have the help they deserve.
When and where does this group take place?
Our Carers Group meet once-monthly on the third Tuesday of each month. We meet at New Line Learning Academy, Boughton Lane, Loose, ME15 9QL.
We meet from 10am – 12pm, but people are welcome to arrive and leave at any time during this two-hour window.
How much do sessions cost?
Sessions are available free-of-charge, but we encourage a suggested donation of £2 per session to help with the cost of refreshments.
Tea, Coffee and Biscuits are available for the duration of the session.
