Digging for Health

The Digging for Health Project is a community gardening and food growing initiative based at The Hub, at Alexandra Park. You can learn how to grow your own food, access fresh produce, be more active, find out about eating more healthily or simply enjoy the garden setting. The Hub, Alexandra Park is located within Alexandra Park - accessed via the Kings Road Gate.

Bar and Grill

An early evening meal with a chance to get out and socialize, usually run once a month. For more information about the Bar & Grill, Chadderton or for details of the next meal.


Friday Lunch Club School

Working hand-in-hand, Mills Hill Primary School, Firwood & District Residents’ Association and Oldham’s Life Long Learning Team provides food, activities and a chance to get older people get out, socialise and meet new friends.

Meeting each Friday in term time (12:00pm – 2:00pm). Lunch is prepared in school and usually consisting of fruit juice, soup, a roast with vegetables from local allotments, a delicious dessert and tea or coffee. Diabetic needs can be catered for. After lunch activities include armchair exercises, aromatherapy and other sessions run by the Lifelong Learning Team.


Late Lunch

A social group, open to all, that meets alternate Mondays: Hunt Lane Tavern Middleton Road, Chadderton and Mills Hill Baptist Church Hall, Middleton.


Wednesday Coffee Morning

A friendly, inclusive coffee morning which meets each Wednesday at Mills Hill Baptist Church, Mills Hill Road, Chadderton, 10:00am – 12:00pm. The building has full disabled access. Drop in for a chat – all welcome!

Making Space

The service will help to introduce people to social & community activities which match their hobbies & interests. Working in partnership with other dementia specialist agencies to ensure that users are fully supported regarding accessing groups and activities that they are interested in and that are suitable to meet their needs. The service aims to provide a needs-led, person centred service that encompasses all areas in which clients require assistance, particularly around their leisure activities, and allows them to access services at all agencies that can provide help and assistance.

Carers Support Group

A support group for carers to obtain advice and information on any issues that may be affecting them, or just a space to sit, relax and have an informal chat.The group meets on Thursdays (fortnightly basis), 6.00pm – 8.00pm at St Herbert’s Court, Wellington Street, Chadderton, Oldham, OL9 0JD.


Dementia Drop In

A social, advice and information group offering support to carers and people living with dementia. The group meets every Monday, 10:00am-12:00pm at St Herbert’ Court, Wellington St, Chadderton, OL9 0JD


Get Arty and Crafty

An art and crafts activity group for people living with dementia and their carers. There is no charge for this service. The group meets on the first Wednesday of every month, 10:00am - 12:00pm at Downey House, St Paul's Church, Church St, Royton, Oldham.


Healthy Living Group

A social group for people living with dementia and their families/carers who come together to make delicious food and then eat it together in a relaxed and sociable environment. The group occurs on the third Monday of every month, 1:00pm - 3:00pm at Mills Hill Church Community Room, Mills Hill, M24 2FD.


Hope Chapel Activity Group/Café

Activities for people living with dementia and their carers and advice and information. The group meets every other Friday, 10.00am - 12.00pm at Hope Methodist Church, Oldham Road, Failsworth, Manchester, M35 9AQ.


Music Group / Dementia Café

Various musical therapies and advice and information for people living with dementia and their carers. Instruments are provided. There is no charge for this service. The group meets every Friday, 1:00pm - 3:00pm at St. Herbert’s Court, Wellington Street, Chadderton, Oldham, OL9 0JD.


Springhead Carers Support Group

A support group for carers to obtain advice and information on any issues that may be affecting them, or just a space to sit, relax and have an informal chat. The group meets on Thursdays (fortnightly basis) 6:00p.m - 8.00pm at Old Mill House, Old Mill Lane, Springhead, Oldham, OL4 5TS.

Walk & Talk in the Park

This fortnightly group walk offers a chance for people with a diagnosis of dementia to get together in a relaxed environment, take part in some light exercise and provide mutual advice and support. The walk takes place come rain or shine every alternative Thursday 1:30pm – 3:00pm. Meet at the Pavilion Café, Chadderton Hall Park, Burnley Lane, Chadderton, OL9 0QB. 


Post Diagnostic Services Drop-in Sessions

Are you concerned about any memory problems? Come along for a friendly chat and advice these drop-in sessions 9:30am -12:30pm.

  • Every 1st Thursday of the month at Oldham Library
  • Every 2nd Thursday of the month at Failsworth Library
  • Every 3rd Thursday of the month at Lees Library
  • Every 4th Thursday of the month at Chadderton Library
  • Every 5th Thursday at Oldham Library

Oldham Early Onset Dementia Drop-in Cafe

A relaxed and informal environment for anyone needing support, information or advice about young onset dementia. Bring a friend or family member as all are welcome for a cup of tea, lunch and a chat

11:00am – 1:00pm on 1st Thursday of every month at the Salt Cellar Cafe, 11a Church Lane Oldham OL1 3AN. 


The Memory Management Group (referral only)

The Memory Management Group provides support and practical strategies to enable people to live as independently as possible in an open and relaxed space for people to discuss their concerns. 

Two group sessions are run over eight weeks - Tuesday & Wednesday at Tandleview Court in Royton.
