Age UK Staffordshire are celebrating after another successful campaign for The Big Knit.

Local Charity Age UK Staffordshire, supporting local older people to love later life, have counted tens of thousands of knitted hats as part of their recent campaign for ‘The Big Knit’.

Smashing their target of 65,000 knitted hats, a whopping 72,000 hats were knitted by local residents across Staffordshire, as part of the campaign that ended on 30 June 2022.

The Big Knit is a partnership with innocent drinks, where local Age UKs across the country take part in knitting little hats for the tops of innocent smoothie bottles.

Every hat knitted raises 25p to help provide much-needed services and support to older people.

Jenny Bell, Project Lead, said: ‘What an achievement! We are so grateful to every knitter who took part in our campaign.

‘Thank you cards will be written to those who took part and helped us to smash our target.

‘We could not have achieved our target without the support of our wonderful knitters.

‘Anyone wishing to help give us a head start for the next Big Knit campaign can start knitting now. We will share the details for the next deadline as soon as they are confirmed.’

The Big Knit continues to raise vital funds for Age UK Staffordshire. To find out more about The Big Knit, or to get involved, visit: ageuk.org.uk/staffordshire/activities-and-events/bigknit/
