Local charity Age UK Staffordshire has announced that places are available for people to attend its Day Opportunities service across the county.

The day centres are located in Penkridge, Tamworth, Wombourne and Cannock and provide support to older people, or those with dementia and other complex needs.

Age UK Staffordshire's Day Opportunities service offers a range of activities, including reminiscence, arts and crafts, music sessions, and much more. The centres are designed to provide a safe and welcoming environment for people to socialise, make new friends, and enjoy their day.

The Day Opportunities service offers numerous benefits to those with dementia and other complex needs, including stimulation, increased social interaction, and respite for carers. Age UK Staffordshire staff are trained to provide specialist care and support to individuals with complex needs, ensuring that everyone is safe and comfortable.

‘We’re delighted that we have availability to welcome more people to Day Opportunities across Staffordshire,’ said Age UK Staffordshire's CEO, Carl Bennett.

‘We know that social isolation and loneliness can have a negative impact on people's health and wellbeing.

‘We understand the challenges that come with caring for someone with dementia or other complex needs,’ said Carl. ‘Our day centres provide a lifeline to those who need it most and help to combat social isolation and loneliness, which can be particularly difficult for those with complex needs.’

The Age UK Staffordshire team work hard to ensure that all of their day centres are welcoming spaces for older people to enjoy. Activities are tailored to individual needs and preferences, and typically consist of craft, games, singing, reading and quiet time.
