Age UK Staffordshire Joins Forces with Local Business for Heart-Warming Christmas Campaign

Published on 12 November 2023 12:00 AM

Age UK Staffordshire is thrilled to announce its collaboration with Lichfield company, Legionella and Fire Safe Services (LFS), in a heart-warming Christmas campaign aimed at bringing joy and warmth to older people in the local community.

The 'Stockings for Smiles' campaign, initiated by Legionella and Fire Safe Services, aims to reach out to local older people this Christmas.

The campaign will see the creation of 200 festive stockings, and the company is reaching out to the wider community for donations of small gifts, puzzles, books, or gadgets to fill them.

Kym Morris, Business Manager at Legionella and Fire Safe Services, expressed the company's commitment to making a difference to local older people: "Hampers are a wonderful gift, but we wanted to do something different. So rather than chocolates and other items, we came up with the idea of stockings with things to provide people with activities to do in order to combat loneliness."

The collaboration between Age UK Staffordshire and Legionella and Fire Safe Services exemplifies the power of community engagement.

Steve Morris, Managing Director of Legionella and Fire Safe Services, emphasised the importance of ensuring that no one feels alone at Christmas, saying, "I feel strongly about helping the local community, and this way, other businesses in the local area can join us in bringing some joy to people who truly need to feel cared for at Christmas time."

Karen Leighton, Head of Care Improvement at Age UK Staffordshire, expressed gratitude for the campaign: "We are very grateful to Legionella and Fire Safe Services for the wonderful campaign for Christmas. It will bring so many smiles to our community."

The stockings filled with festive goodies will be distributed at Age UK Staffordshire's day centres in December by the Company's Elves, adding an extra touch of magic to the Christmas season for the service users at the Charity.

Businesses and individuals interested in supporting the 'Stockings for Smiles' campaign can drop off contributions at Legionella and Fire Safe Services, Britannia House Britannia Way, Lichfield WS14 9UY, or email smiles@legionellaandfiresafe.co.uk
